Camp Kingston
About This Spot
Nestled on St James Street, Camp Kingston unfolds as a warm, inviting refuge that comfortably balances the vibrant pulse of a coffee shop with laid-back nods to a neighborhood bar and market. From the moment you step inside, there’s a gentle hum of friendly chatter and the comforting clatter of cups and boards, setting a relaxed pace that encourages lingering conversations and quiet moments alike.
The space itself carries a thoughtful, curated feel—bright yet cozy, with an atmosphere that steadily invites both locals and travelers to settle in. Whether it’s the familiar comfort of a perfectly brewed matcha latte or the gentle spicing of a cardamom chai, the beverage offerings weave effortlessly into the overall experience, complementing the thoughtful kitchen creations. Here, food feels like an honest expression of care: dishes crafted not just to satisfy hunger, but to feel like a nourishing pause during a busy day.
Camp Kingston’s unique charm also unfolds in its welcoming approach—there’s a casual openness that makes it easy to connect, whether you’re stopping by for a morning cup, meeting friends later in the day, or browsing the market’s carefully selected offerings. Dog-friendly and community-minded, the vibe reflects a small town spirit wrapped up in the energy of a college town, where everyone feels seen.
It’s the sort of place where you might find yourself returning twice on one trip, each visit revealing new details—a fresh salad bright with seasonal crispness or a sandwich that strikes the perfect balance of savory and fresh. Add to that an occasional weekly special that keeps the menu feeling alive and connected to its local roots, and it becomes clear that Camp Kingston is less about rigid routine and more about joyful discovery, one human moment at a time.
In a town filled with options, this is a spot where warmth, thoughtful flavors, and approachable hospitality come together to create a subtle but genuine sense of belonging.

Exceptional coffee and deserts, great atmosphere, and a college town vibe. Unfortunately you have to climb a few steps to get in so it's not accessible for people with mobility disabilities. Very responsive as well, happy to hear that you will soon make it available for people in mobility disability.

I love their matchas and specialty drinks - and the current Fiona Apple chai. Recommend the vegan sesame noodles and chia seed pudding with cherry jam, which I bring home for WFH lunches all the time, and my kids love the grilled cheese, cookies, hummus and crudités, Natalie’s, and Bjorn corn products. We’re regulars and will always be!

Shared the tofu bahn mi, a salad, and an iced coffee with my partner and it was great! The Bahn mi was amazing, my partner didn’t like the salad but I thought it was nice, and the coffee was really really really good. I came back a couple days later to buy a t-shirt. The front room gets a little crowded but there are a couple of back rooms with more tables and space.
